I looked at the ebay page for this, Over 400 dollars? Seriously? For a plush thats only 14 inches? You know that sometimes if you lower prices but get more profit because more customers are buying. Here is an informative business article that can help explain that concept: [link]
I suppose you shouldn't look are her older auctions when some of her plushies have gone for 1.5k+ or Babylondonstars for that matter, or makeshiftwinds or a dozen other plush makers who regularly have auctions go at those prices.
I wouldn't feel sorry for them. They are people who have enough money to spare to buy the things they love. I dunno why you would even feel sorry for someone that spends their money on things they like. It's not like they can get something like that for 20$ at a walmart.
Plenty of people can't enjoy collecting things for that exact reason (they feel it's not useful and anything they buy should be useful) but that's obviously just your opinion. People buy things like this because they are collectors, they love it and want to own it. I mean, the same can be said for a ton of things.
Not wanting to whiteknight here, but come on, simple maths: If you want a medium income of about 30000 a year while having your weekends free, you gotta make 115 a day plus material costs.
That would be 4-5 days per plushie including discussions with the commissioner, searching for and buying materials, developing patterns for extras, packaging and shipping, and so on. If you ever made a plushie, you'll know just HOW little time that is for this...
This plush was not on ebay, but maybe you don't understand how auctions. I did not set the final price, the buyer do. It is call suppy and demand. There are cheaper plushies you can buy. You are more then welcome to bid on another plush
I'm not a big fan of MLP, I like the show though. I really love the amount of detail you put into this! It could even rival some of the stuff my friends have that they bought from a store! Seriously I can't get over all the detail! Even to make her accessories removable is remarkable as well. I have not seen your other work (and I can't right now because pictures won't load properly D: ) But your other sewn pieces mus be just as great and I'm sure you don't charge very cheap either for your commissions! Seriously someone of this level of talent is worth a lot! I really hope you go very far with your sewing and wish you the best!
